Production has never been easier. Judgment has never been harder.
The Edit Discipline is the firm’s own portfolio method, made a working practice — a self-directed course in seeing your work the way a serious client will, and cutting it to what you can stand behind.
The shift
The creative industries are in a structural change. Tools have multiplied, barriers have fallen, and the old professional signals no longer hold. Technical fluency sets no one apart now, because everyone has it.
What is scarce is judgment: knowing what to make, what to refuse, how to price it, and how to be trusted with it. Production has changed. What a serious client is looking for has not.
What it is
The Edit Discipline is the standard the firm applies when it assesses work, set down as a practice you can run on your own portfolio — at your own pace, and again as your work changes. Nothing in it is theory for its own sake. Every part is something the firm actually does when it decides whether work is ready.
Strong work, and selected work, are not the same thing. This is the course about the distance between them.
It is not a tutorial platform, not a software walkthrough, and not a credential. It is the method, made yours to work from.
Who it’s not for
- Beginners and hobbyists
- Influencer-first or virality-seeking creators
- Anyone looking for prompts, shortcuts, or technical hacks
- Anyone unwilling to refine, remove, or reposition their work
Who it’s for
- Established photographers and visual creatives
- DPs, directors, producers, and consultants
- Professionals already working in market, navigating a fast-moving industry without eroding their authorship or their clients’ trust
What you work through
Seven modules, self-directed, in order — each building on the one before:
- Orientation — how the method works, and why the edit is the argument.
- Positioning & Professional Readiness — your market sentence: who the work is for, where it sits, and the risk it removes.
- Portfolio & Risk — the cut. Removing thirty to fifty per cent, including strong frames that don’t serve the promise.
- Pricing, Usage & Boundaries — pricing with clarity, and holding the line on usage.
- Client Communication — speaking to serious clients with authority, not apology.
- AI Disclosure & Trust — making your process legible; being able to say, plainly, what you made and how.
- Readiness Review — reading the whole again as a stranger, and borrowing a real one; checking that the sentence, the images, and the terms agree.
